Los Angeles County proposes proof of vaccine to enter indoor public spaces including music venues
On Wednesday, August 11th, Los Angeles cracked down on citizens who are required to provide proof of vaccination before they can engage in indoor activities such as restaurants, gyms, retail stores, bars, cinemas and concert halls. The vote in the city council was unanimous and has more requirements than that of New York.
The adopted proposal gives the council the opportunity to gather information on how people are doing with vaccinations and how much effort they have to put in to protect the children.
Other efforts have been made to provide evidence of vaccination, e.g. B. Concerts that are now required of attendees before they can get to their shows like the upcoming Life is Beautiful in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles City Councils share their thoughts on the new proposal:
“Instead of fighting science, let’s fight the virus,” said councilor Mitch O’Farrell, co-author of the proposal. “The data is clear: vaccines are safe and effective. We endured mass sickness and death for 18 months, with the latest variant wreaking havoc around the world. Free vaccinations are widespread for anyone who is eligible. This is a necessary and sensible step that will largely protect the health and safety of Angelenos. It could very well avert another economic standstill that would be devastating for our city and our country. “
Councilor Paul Koretz said: “Honestly, I’m sick of our politicization science and our public health. And while people outside this building are protesting that this is a violation of their civil liberties, Angelenos are dying needlessly. “
“Not vaccinated leads to death. It is leading to an ongoing pandemic. It affects others. It’s not a personal choice. It’s a public health issue, ”stressed Councilor Bob Blumenfield.
