Los Angeles Chargers at Atlanta Falcons: Game predictions, picks, odds

Arthur Smith’s Atlanta Falcons (4-4) are one of the biggest surprises of the season, and now the NFC South-leading squad play host to Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers (4-3).

Los Angeles is coming off a bye week and could be shorthanded on offense, which could play in Atlanta’s favor in this Week 9 matchup. Can the Falcons keep the magic going against a Chargers team that has yet to fully live up to expectations this season? The game is scheduled to kick off Sunday at 1 pm ET from Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Lorenzo Reyes: Chargers 28, Falcons 21

Though LA is going west to east in an early-window game, the Chargers are coming off a bye and are finally as healthy as they’ve been this season. Atlanta has been a great play against the spread, but after an emotional, back-and-forth victory to get it to first place, a letdown is a very real possibility here.

Safid Deen: Chargers 30, Falcons 27

Herbert and the banged-up Chargers are reeling from their injuries, but come back from their bye week to take care of the competitive Falcons.

Lance Pugmire: Falcons 27, Chargers 24

While inspired Atlanta has stunningly reached first place in the lowly NFC South, the demoralized Chargers are again filing loaded injury reports (Mike Williams, Joey Bosa, etc.) and playing dreadful defense. Take the Falcons +3.5.

Jarrett Bell: Chargers 31, Falcons 27

Nate Davis: Falcon’s 27, Charger’s 23

Tyler Dragon: Chargers 24, Falcons 20
