Los Angeles Board of Public Works Awards 14 Beautification Project Grants – CBS Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – The Board of Public Works announced the approval of 14 beautification projects in the neighborhood to be funded by the Beautify LA Grant, also known as the KLAB Community Beautification Grant.

The Beautify LA Grant was created to support community projects with the intent to improve areas of Los Angeles that can appear shabby, dirty, or plain.

Each of the grants totals $ 2,500 of which finalists who received the grants will be required to raise up to 25 percent or $ 625 through external funding, volunteer time, discounts, or donations of professional services or materials and supplies .

In a statement from Paul Racs, director of the Office of Community Beautification, it said:

“Through the Beautify LA Grant, we have connected with many local groups and shared resources with all applicants to help advance their project ideas. We hope this will encourage even more people to improve their communities. “

The 14 winners were selected from a pool of 52 participants, 26 of whom were invited to a nomination round – where 19 of the invited community programs submitted their pitches to the Board of Public Works.

Aura Garcia, vice president of the Board of Public Works and chairwoman of Keep Los Angeles Beautiful, said of the grants awarded:

“We are committed to improving the quality of life for Angelenos. The Beautify LA Grant Program is an opportunity to invite community groups to join our mission to beautify and improve our neighborhoods. … Our call-to-action met with an exciting response. I look forward to our communities enjoying the completed projects and continuing this program in the future. “

Another scholarship program, also through Beautify LA, will restart in 2022.

The selected projects include landscaping projects, wall painting projects, banner projects, cultural plaque projects and community horticulture projects.

The 14 winners are:

• Landscaping project for District 2: Footbridge Square Laurel Canyon / Valleyheart Media, submitted by Footbridge Square Neighborhood Watch,
• District 3 Beautification and Landscaping Project: “LA River Bike Path Along the Headwaters,” submitted by LA River Walkers and Watchers,
• Landscaping project for District 3: “Valerio Street Pocket Park”, submitted by the Reseda Neighborhood Council
• Landscaping Project for District 4: Bronson Canyon Traffic Circle, submitted by The Oaks and Bronson Canyon Improvement Fund,
• Landscaping project for District 7: “Let’s Beautify North Hills”, submitted by North Valley Caring Services,
• Parkland Project in District 12: “Porter Ranch Beautification Project”, submitted by the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council,
• Landscaping project for District 13 and installation of a bronze plaque: “LA River Stewardship Memorial”, submitted by Atwater Village Neighborhood Council,
• Landscaping project for District 15: “Watts Imperial Courts Unity Garden”, submitted by GreenSpacesLA,
• Mural project in District 5: “Rosewood Gardens Mural Project”, submitted by the Mid-City West Neighborhood Council,
• Mural project in District 8: “Chesterfield Square Mural Project”, submitted by the Chesterfield Square Community Block Club,
• District 10 Artistic Banner Project: “Washington Transit Corridor Beautification,” submitted by Mid-City Neighborhood Council,
• Cultural plaque project for District 13: “Beautify the Thai City”, submitted by the Thai Community Development Center,
• Community gardening project District 13: “OWN Community Garden Shed Construction”, submitted by One World One Nation,
• District 14 Community Garden Project: Amazing Gardens & Campus Beautification at Delevan Drive Elementary, submitted by Delevan Drive Elementary School.
