Subject: Ms. Sawicki’s January 19, 2022 article on LA County Supervisor Candidate 3rd Circuit Robert Hertzberg:

“I grew up in the valley and loved it. I don’t like what has become of it. I don’t know Mr. Hertzberg, but his campaign statement that his goal as Supervisor, if quoted correctly, “…will be to bring people together, build coalitions, and solve problems for our uniquely diverse and dynamic county. People deserve nothing less …” says nothing. It’s the kind of mundane, routine, ready-made and empty statement that typifies so many candidates and has absolutely no meaning or context. It suggests mediocrity and doesn’t express anything promising enough to garner a vote. Our elected officials must stop insulting us with such a jumble of words. I wish Mr. Hertzberg had said something like, “I will bring the rewards to people who have earned their hard work, dedication, and tax dollars.” I will develop a means by which people in the 3rd district can voice their concerns and test solutions to problems so that necessary reforms are effective and do not create more problems than they are intended to solve.” THAT is a mission statement worth considering.”
