LAUSD wants to ease COVID restrictions next semester – CBS Los Angeles

Los Angeles (CBSLA) – The Los Angeles Unified School District will ease some COVID-19 restrictions over the next semester, including testing and wearing masks outdoors.

LAUSD announced at its board meeting on Tuesday that from January only unvaccinated students and those with approved exceptions will have to be tested weekly. Currently, all students must be tested regardless of their vaccination status.

The district also announced that it would lift the requirement to wear masks outdoors on campuses where at least 85% of students are fully vaccinated. The requirement to wear a mask indoors remains.

All LAUSD students 12 and older must have their first dose of COVID vaccine by November 21st and their second by December 19th.

The district recommends, but not mandates, COVID vaccinations for students aged 5 to 11.

The spring semester starts on January 11th.

Monday was the deadline for the full vaccination of all faculties and staff at LAUSD against COVID-19. District officials told the board on Tuesday that 100% of LAUSD employees who work on school grounds are fully vaccinated.
