On Thursday, 10/14/21, Santa Monica police officers responded to a peace call disturbance in the 2nd and Arizona area. Comments on the call suggested that a woman was carrying a baton and hitting cars. When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw a female suspect hit a male victim with two hollow metal pipes. The suspect was immediately arrested by officers.
SMPD officials discovered that there were two other victims who happened to be attacked by the suspect who was later identified as Alexandria Diaz. During her investigation, it was found that Ms. Diaz had been listed as a missing person from the Fresno area, had a mental illness and may have stopped her medication.
One victim, Michelle Yi, was not only hit by the metal pipe, but also “poked” by a reciprocating saw blade that officers found on the floor. Yi suffered a 1 inch laceration in the right eyebrow area from a blow with a whistle. She drove herself to a local hospital for treatment. The other two victims had scratches on their faces and heads. They refused medical treatment.
On Monday, October 18, 2021, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office – Airport Court – filed 3 cases of 245 PC attack with a lethal weapon against Ms. Diaz.
