Jobs with good prospects in 2022

CALIFORNIA – The COVID-19 pandemic has turned the way we work on its head as the “Great Resignation” hits the US and more workers enter remote roles. In 2022, multiple industries are expected to provide some of the fastest growing jobs and opportunities in the country.

From projectionists to wind turbine service technicians and nurses, here’s a look at the sectors with the strongest overall growth.

Total employment is expected to increase from 153.5 million to 165.4 million over the course of the year
2020 to 2030 decade, an increase of 11.9 million jobs, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics economic forecast report.

In the wake of the economic recession from February to April 2020 triggered by the pandemic, there were significant and immediate declines in production and employment, the agency reports.

It also created some long-term demands and structural changes in some industries. Many computer-related professions are expected to have increased needs beyond the pandemic, including meeting computer infrastructure requirements for teleworking and IT security.

Some of the fastest-predicted areas of growth are in healthcare, health support, construction, and personal care. An increase in jobs is expected in technical professions, including solar photovoltaic installers and wind-related professions.

And in 2022, some of the fastest growing careers are expected to be leisure and hospitality, nursing, psychiatry, software development, IT security, and teaching.

“As industries grow, so do the jobs they employ,” according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Leisure and hospitality

As the economy recovers from the pandemic, recreational and hospitality employment is expected to grow the fastest of all sectors over the next decade. It is also among seven of the top 20 fastest growing industries for jobs – and is one of the hardest hit by the recent recession.

This growth is indicated by a variety of factors. As restaurants, hotels, arts and entertainment, cultural and recreational establishments return with low employment after the 2020 downturn, there is greater demand for recreational and personal activities.

But will that be enough to bring workers back into this industry? The recruitment crisis could have an impact on wages.

These jobs still face one of the greatest staffing shortages as many workers do not return due to low wages and poor work-life balance. Due to the high demand and the increased need for workers in this sector, wages can be expected to continue to rise.

From September 2020 to September 2021, compensation costs for workers in the leisure and hospitality industry increased 6.9 percent, compared with a 4.1 percent increase in the 12 months ended September 2020.

“Rapid employment growth is also forecast for personal care, service and food preparation and service occupations, mainly due to recovery growth after low employment in the base year 2020,” reports the agency.

In addition to eating more, people will return to traditional entertainment with concerts and films. Restaurant chefs, projectionists, ushers, lobby workers, and ticket buyers will also be some of the increased employment opportunities.

maintenance

Registered nurses are expected to see some of the biggest increases in job opportunities in 2022.

Around half of nurses were employed in private general medical and surgical hospitals in 2012, according to the agency. In 2022, hospital employment and the number of nurses in the industry are expected to increase.

The projected employment growth rates for these hospitals and the nursing staff working in them from 2012 to 2022 are 15.2 percent for private general medical and surgical hospitals and 16.6 percent for the nursing staff working in these hospitals.

As the need for registered nurses grows and the pandemic deepens, growth in this industry is also fueled by expected retirements. A strong increase in demand will come from the aging baby boomers, combined with longer life expectancy and the sustained growth of patients with chronic diseases.

More than 500,000 skilled nurses are expected to retire by 2022. To avoid a lack of care, 1.1 million new nurses are expected to be needed to replace these retirees.

Expect increased demand not only for nurses but also for physical therapists and medical assistants. Team-based health models are expected to increase given the strong demand for health services.

In 2020, the median wage for a male nurse was $ 111,680 per year.

psychiatry

Both mental and physical health will be a growing priority in 2022. Health and healthcare-related professions, including mental health, account for seven of the 30 fastest growing professions between 2020 and 2030, according to the agency.

Healthcare and welfare are expected to create the most jobs of any sector: around 3.3 million jobs by 2020 to 2023. Psychiatrists are expected to be among the highest-paid people with college degrees.

According to the US News & World Report, the top-paid 25 percent of psychiatrists earned $ 208,000 in 2019, while the worst-paid 25 percent made $ 149,440.

Mental health care will see some of the highest and most sustained increases. And in the health sector, employment in the service industry for individuals and families is expected to grow the fastest, with an annual growth rate of 3.3 percent.

Software development and IT security

Some of the fastest growing jobs are in the computing and math professions.

Now more and more people are working remotely. It is expected that the high demand for IT security and software development will increase as the spread of teleworking due to the COVID-19 pandemic brings with it an increased need for new products. The industry will continue to rely on the analysis and interpretation of large data sets and other means of cross-team communication.

The greatest need is in the statistician, information security analyst, and data scientist professions.

As technology advances, employment growth in the professional, business, and scientific service industries will continue. Computer system design will also be in increasing demand to support these industries. This area could see projected annual employment growth of 2.1 percent from 2020 to 2030, while management, scientific and technical consulting services expect growth of 2 percent.

Robotics will also experience a large area of growth as manufacturing and sales continue to shift to automation and global competition increases.
