Masaharu Morimoto (“Iron Chef”) has a new Pan-Asian restaurant in the Doheny Room in West Hollywood. Sa’Moto opened Thursday with dishes like Dan Dan Noodles; Tuna pizza with anchovy aioli; Crab spring rolls; Sushi; and ribs cooked twice in chili hoisin sauce. The restaurant offers Asian-inspired cocktails as well as sake, wine, beer and large-format punch bowls. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm to 11pm

A new restaurant for Johnny Lee
Pearl River Deli chef and owner Johnny Lee plans to open a restaurant in the former home of Vivian Ku’s pop-up Today Starts Here in Chinatown this fall. Lee plans to redesign Pearl River Deli, his Cantonese-themed restaurant on Far East Plaza, to be more casual, and focus the new restaurant on full-service dinner options such as clay pot rice and whole steamed fish.

Berbere from T&T Lifestyle
The provider Berbere from Smorgasburg, LA, is going permanent with a new Ethiopian-inspired, purely vegan restaurant in Santa Monica. In the stationary room, which will open on Tuesday, the cook and nutritionist Tezeta Alemayehu – known as Chef Tete – will prepare pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner with homemade spice mixes, daily-made injera and dishes like blueberry teff flour; Clay pot shiro (chickpea stew); and a homemade veggie burger with Berbere-flavored potatoes. Sauces, spreads and condiments are available for purchase, while a dedicated juice bar serves smoothies, fresh juices and take-away meals. It is open from Sunday to Friday.

A funky, colorful new taco shop has now opened in Rampart Village, founded by one of the owners of Guerrilla Tacos. Long Beach Oktoberfest
A new Oktoberfest celebration is taking place in Long Beach, bringing games, live music and German beer to the Scottish Rite Event Center from October 22-24 and October 29-31. Oompah band Festmeister Hans and Die Sauerkrauts will headline the event, and the canapés include bratwurst, potato salad, soft pretzels and several vegan options. Tickets are $ 20; Food, beer and wine are charged separately. VIP entry is $ 125 and includes food, parking, beer, wine, and a memorial mug. Friday and Saturday, only 21 and older; on Sundays, children up to the age of 15 have free admission.

A study of fire
Eatalys’s rooftop restaurant and bar, Terra, is repeating its live cook pop-ups with a new autumn rotation of chefs using the restaurant’s wood grill for a one-night-only menu. Bludso’s BBQ Chef founder Kevin Bludso will show up on September 20th, with Norberto Piattoni (the Modestos) manning the grill on October 22nd and Rebecca King (the bad Jew, pigs) finishing the run on November 17th. Tickets are $ 90 per person.
