Intersection To Be Dedicated in Honor of Late Boys & Girls Club President | KFI AM 640

PACOIMA (CNS) – An intersection near the Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley in Pacoima will be dedicated today as LeRoy Chase Square honoring the club’s late longtime president and CEO.

Chase was president of the club from 1968 until his death in 2018 at the age of 73, helping oversee its growth from a small storefront building then known as the Boys Club into a multi-structure facility built in the mid-1980s while several other chapters closed. “His dedication to the youth in Pacoima and the surrounding community was rooted in his strong belief that all children, regardless of their background, deserve every opportunity to achieve their greatest potential,” Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez said in her motion to dedicate the square in Chase’s honor.

The club offers after-school and summer activities for local youth. Chase’s daughter Nicole, now the club’s president and CEO, Severyn Aszkenazy, the club’s board chair, and activist Bob Winn are set to join Rodriguez in speaking at the 2 pm ceremony at the intersection. Chase was also a member of the Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission and the California Commission on the Status of African-American Males.
