God of War Ragnarok Santa Monica: Fans of this game shows off Epic Kratos Weapon Tattoo!

God of War Ragnarok Santa Monica: A God of War Ragnarok fan shows off his brand new tattoo, which features several of the game’s weapons below a banner written in Greek and Old Norse.

The impact that 2018’s God of War and its sequel, 2022’s God of War Ragnarok, have had on their fan base is impressively displayed in this ode to both games.

If you enjoyed Santa Monica’s 2018 smash hit God of War, you’ll love this. God of War Ragnarok, which was released on November 9, 2022, was a smashing success, selling 5.1 million units in its first weekend, receiving critical acclaim as a potential game of the year, and remaining the best-selling video game in the United Kingdom into the year’s final week.

A new update for God of War: Ragnarok, featuring the much-requested new game + mode and other additions, will be released in the spring of 2023, as announced by Sony Santa Monica. One user, konner1031, posted a picture of their new God of War tattoo on Reddit.

The tattoo shows the Leviathan Ax propped up with the Blades of Chaos crossed in the lower foreground and is drawn in a black-and-white realistic style with some tracing style influence and sparse yet effective use of contrasting colors.

‘Remember life’ is written in Old Norse on the left side of the banner, and ‘Remember death’ is written in Greek on the right, both inscribed above the tribute to Kratos’ mystical weapons.

This shift in vocabulary is a clever nod to Kratos’ troubled past and the first set of deities he slaughtered.

Considering the importance of tattoos in the God of War canon, Norse mythology, and various Nordic cultures, konner1031’s new ink is a tasteful, in-character nod to the series.

Kratos, after being banished to Hades by Ares and Athena, got his signature red tattoo as a tribute to his brother Deimos.

Tattoos paying tribute to the God of War series are nothing new, and konner1031’s is just the most recent example. There are some truly incredible illustrations available, and this one has a good shot at being among the very best.

Sony Santa Monica’s next God of War game has not been announced. One thing is certain: whether the next installation sees Kratos hacking and slashing his way through an entirely new pantheon of Gods, or an Atreus spin-off series, there will be plenty more killer tattoos inspired by the series. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of God of War: Ragnarok have been released.
