Santa Monica Studio released the God of War Reboot in 2018 to significant applause, as more than nineteen million units were sold for the PS4/PS5. This enabled the reboot to become more popular than Star Wars Battlefront and Marvel’s Spider-Man, meaning that a sequel was inevitable.

Imagine the excitement everyone felt during PlayStation’s PS5 Reveal Event, as Sony and Santa Monica Studio showcased the upcoming God of War Ragnarok. But nobody expected that Kratos would continue onwards as the main character. It was presumed that Atreus would take over as the primary character, with Kratos becoming something similar to Victor Sullivan in Uncharted. Fortunately, Santa Monica Studio has taken a different approach and focused on a hardened version of Old Man Kratos.

Two years have passed since God of War Ragnarok was announced by Game Director Cory Barlog, and everyone has clamored for more information. Luckily, gameplay and storyline details have been revealed by Santa Monica Studios. We’ll decipher all that information for you down below. However, we’d like to emphasize that God of War Ragnarök has been delayed, and the game isn’t expected to release until late 2022.

Is God Of War Ragnarok Coming Out In 2022?

As previously mentioned, Santa Monica Studios was forced into delaying God of War Ragnarok once the Covid-19 Pandemic had begun. It caused their development opportunities to become far more limited, as developers were required to work from home. However, Cory Barlog has promised that God of War Ragnarok will release before the 2022 holiday season.

Regardless of when this game is released, the revenue earned will be minimal compared to the original reboot. Santa Monica Studios and PlayStation will struggle to sell millions of copies because the PlayStation5 has become overpriced. For instance, Canadians pay an average of $1200 to $1600 for a PS5.

There wasn’t anything more enjoyable than throwing the Leviathan Ax at enemies. Personally, we favor the frost combinations. But numerous other options were available, and this level of customization made God of War feel incredibly immersive. You felt in control over the outcome of Kratos & Atreus, with their powers growing alongside the main storyline.

That level of control and customization is needed in God of War Ragnarok if the sequel’s storyline will continue to feel immersive & realistic. Fortunately, everything suggests that Santa Monica Studios continues onwards with this level of personalization. Unfortunately, details regarding the customization options for this upcoming sequel have been kept private.

Details for God of War Ragnarok’s storyline. It’s been confirmed that Kratos & Atreus will face the doomsday events of Ragnarök from Norse mythology. However, we don’t know how those events will play out throughout the campaign. Despite that, we’re expecting Kratos will face off against Thor and Freya with the assistance of Angrboda. We’ll also see additional characters like Tyr, known as the imprisoned son of Odin. It’s presumed his hatred towards Odin will help Kratos & Atreus defeat their enemies throughout Ragnarök.

Nobody knows how the campaign will unfold in God of War Ragnarok. However, Santa Monica Studio won’t let down millions of gamers. You can expect an incredible storyline surrounding the events of Norse mythology.

Are We Visiting The Nine Realms in God of War Ragnarok?

The reboot for God of War introduced six of the nine realms in Norse Mythology. This meant that Svartalfheim, Vanaheim, and Asgard were unplayable locations in God of War. Well, that’s changing with the upcoming sequel. It’s been confirmed that these three locations are being introduced into God of War Ragnarok.

We will be visiting the homeworld of Odin, Thor, and Freya. But what will happen once we’ve arrived? That’s the real question. Will Odin & Thor defeat Kratos? Will they imprison Loki? Will the God of War die? You can expect more answers when Ragnarök is released in late 2022.

Is God Of War Ragnarok Getting Released On The PS5 And PC?

Santa Monica Studios have confirmed that God of War Ragnarok is an exclusive title for the PS5, with PC Integration possible later into the game’s lifespan. For now, the priority is launching this upcoming sequel onto the PS5. Unfortunately, Cory Barlog or Santa Monica Studios haven’t provided an official release date for their upcoming sequel.

This has resulted in some inside sources suggesting that another delay is inevitable for God of War Ragnarok. However, our inside information suggests that God of War Ragnarok will release by June 2022. Here’s hoping we’re right.

Is God Of War Ragnarok Part Of PlayStation Plus?

At some point, Sony will authorize God of War Ragnarok onto the updated version of PlayStation Plus. But when that authorization is given isn’t known. You can expect that Ragnarök will take upwards of three years to become available as a free download. Why might you ask? Because Sony and Santa Monica Studios will want to maximize the profits earned from Ragnarok. However, Ragnarök shouldn’t be expensive after this game is introduced with various PSN sales.

If you didn’t know, PlayStation Plus was updated by Sony to compete with the Xbox Game Pass. There are now 700+ Games available to anyone that purchases the PlayStation Plus Pass. But which games can you download? Titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit Become Human, Little Big Planet 3, and Uncharted 4.

Here’s what I can tell you, the Chains of Olympus are back as the primary weapon for Kratos. Do not worry; the Leviathan Ax isn’t going anywhere, but the Spartan will utilize his most skilled form of combat with the Chains of Olympus. Would you expect anything different?

What else will Kratos & Atreus do throughout the events of this upcoming sequel? You can find out by watching the 2021 PlayStation Showcase Reveal Trailer for God of War Ragnarok.

Game System Requirements

Providing an accurate assessment of game system requirements for Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming sequel to God of War isn’t possible.
