Foo Fighters will star in BJ McDonnell’s upcoming horror comedy Studio 666.
The film accompanies the band – consisting of Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee – during the recording of Medicine at Midnight in a villa in the San Fernando Valley that is “permeated with gruesome rock ‘Roll History’. . ”The six is then forced to face“ supernatural forces ”that terrorize both them and the making of the album.
There are Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin. The screenplay was written by Jeff Bühler and Rebecca Hughes based on a story by Grohl, while the entire band will also serve as executive producers.
In a press release, Grohl announced:
“After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous musical documentaries under our collective belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level … A full-length horror comedy. Like most of Foo’s stuff, Studio 666 started with a far-fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever thought possible. Filmed in the same house where we recorded our latest album ‘Medicine at Midnight’ (I told you this place was haunted!), We wanted to recapture the classic magic of all of our favorite rock and roll films, but with a twist: hilarious gore, that damn ROCKS. And now, with the help of Tom Ortenberg and the team at Open Road Films, we can finally let this cat out of the bag after keeping it our best kept secret for two years. Get ready to laugh, scream, and headbang in your popcorn. ‘Studio 666’ will fuck you. “
Meanwhile, McDonnell called the film “a perfect combination of all the things I love”:
“Rock, horror and comedy are combined in a very exciting film. I’m so excited to have teamed up with the Foo Fighters to create an old school band movie. It’s been years since we saw something like “Help!” By the Beatles, “Head” by the Monkees or “Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park”. Take the old school band movie fun of the 60s / 70s, mix it with horror and “Studio 666” is born! I am very happy that the film and music audience is coming together and enjoying our film. “
Open Road Films founding chief Tom Ortenberg added, “The Foos bring their comedic chemistry and musical talent we all love to the big screen in this hysterical horror film.”
Meanwhile, Stone Sour and Ministry’s Roy Mayorga confirmed that he created the score, while the movie’s theme song was created by none other than Halloween’s John Carpenter.
Studio 666 premieres in the United States on February 25, 2022.
Elsewhere in the entertainment area, Squid Game will return for a second season.
