Flood warning in effect for Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, CA – Heavy rains hit Los Angeles Monday morning, and the National Weather Service is warning of possible flooding in Santa Monica by 4:15 p.m. Monday

The city could see road flooding and debris and mood on the streets, NWS said.

Los Angeles is expected to have heavy rainfall through Monday evening, with generally between 0.25 and 0.50 inches of rain per hour and up to 0.75 inches per hour, according to the NWS.

Motorists are advised to turn around when they see flooding on roads and not to drive through them. NWS said most deaths are from flooding in vehicles.

The rain devastated the streets as early as Monday, creating disabilities and traffic across the city.
