Drivers in custody after dangerous pursuit in the San Fernando Valley – NBC Los Angeles

A dangerous chase through several towns in the San Fernando Valley eventually ended in Encino, where the driver was taken into custody.

Los Angeles Police Department began pursuing a silver-colored vehicle in Van Nuys City.

The driver sped through the streets of Van Nuys, Valley Glen, and Sherman Oaks.

In nearby Valley Village, police drove the driver down a dead end, but the driver made a U-turn, collided with a parked vehicle, and nearly ran over the officers.

The driver escaped and the chase continued through the same areas of Sherman Oaks and Studio City.

At some point the driver came onto the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks with the lights completely blacked out.

The LAPD attempted a PIT maneuver and managed to spin the chase vehicle, causing smoke to rise from the front end of the car, but the driver sped away.

The pursuit eventually ended on Gaviota Avenue and Ventura Boulevard in Encino near a building.

The driver, who was apparently a woman, left the vehicle but hid behind a pole.

The police stood by when the driver walked towards a wall, refused to raise his hands, and were eventually approached and taken into custody.
