COVID-19 Memorial at UCLA Honors Those Affected By The Virus – NBC Los Angeles

As part of a citywide effort to honor, support and remember those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Los Angeles, UCLA will light up buildings on campus, Royce Hall and the Powell Library as part of a three-day virtual event .

Blue light will shine in Royce Hall and Powell Library starting Thursday at 5 p.m. as part of the Strength and Love, City of Angels’ COVID-19 Memorial, which is designed to honor first responders, key workers, small business owners, and community organizers, carers, Neighbors and families. The event is also intended to serve as a memory of those who lost their lives to COVID-19.

The event continues Friday and Saturday, every evening at sunset. On Thursday at 8 p.m., organizers asked Angelenos to clap in honor of those who responded during the pandemic; on Friday to light a candle to honor those who have lost their lives; and swivel on Saturday with a pocket or mobile phone lamp.
