City of Oceanside will not enforce the state mask mandate

(Oceanside, CA) – Executives in another San Diego County city say they will not enforce the state’s interior mask mandate. Oceanside City Councilor Christopher Rodriguez tells KGTV that if the state is to enforce the mandate it must provide the resources and manpower to make it happen. Rodriguez says while the city police and other agencies will fail to enforce the mandate, he supports the God-given rights of individual business owners to regulate their business as they see fit. Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez says the city has always left enforcing health ordinances related to a pandemic to the county, but encourages residents to mask themselves when going to grocery stores and other public places. Earlier this week, the mayors of two other cities in San Diego County, Coronado and El Cajon, said they would not use the city’s resources to oversee compliance with the latest state mandate.
