Cardboard Yacht Regatta returns to Annenberg Community Beach House – santamonica.gov

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA. For the eighth Year in, teams of all ages will test their ingenuity in making homemade pappy yachts and take them through the historic Annenberg Community Beach House swimming pool at this annual race. This is the first year the regatta takes place during the day and the pool is closed to recreational swimming.

IF: Saturday, 08/28/2021, 11 clock – 4th pm

WHERE: Annenberg Community Beach House, 415 Pacific Coast Highway,

Santa Monica, CA 90402 (Enter parking lot at the Beach House Way traffic lights)

WHAT: Teams of two test the seaworthiness of their self-made pappy yachts in a race across the historic pool of the Annenberg Community Beach House. Before race day, teams build yachts out of corrugated cardboard and duct tape and decorate them with a creative theme. On race day, the participants bring their yachts to the Annenberg Community Beach House to paddle through the pool while the spectators cheer them on. Awards are given in a variety of fun categories. The entry fee is USD 20 per team. This event will follow the LA County Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 protocols. Please do not participate if you have been or are exposed to COVID-19 symptoms. Unvaccinated individuals are strongly advised to wear a mask during the event. All persons must wear a mask indoors.
