Businesses Affected by Santa Monica Road Lockdowns | news

Gas stations and other businesses near the major road works that have closed the entrances and exits of Santa Monica Road through November have said the construction is affecting their business. The construction, which has disrupted the flow of traffic and blocked the Highway 101 exit at the intersection of Via Real and Santa Monica Road, has created a detour for many motorists that leads them to other gas station and gas station intersections.

Risdon 76 Service and Carwash owner Don Risdon told KEYT that the construction project is affecting its gas sales and that customers who buy car washes, tires or flowers – benefiting Carpinteria’s Future Farmers of America – will have to drive through construction projects.

Risdon added that there was a major dust problem at this intersection too, and said he was concerned about his employees.

The Santa Monica driveways and exits are slated to reopen on November 22nd.
