BJ Boston is officially a Los Angeles clipper. Former Kentucky Wildcat secured the bag by writing a two-year guaranteed rookie deal, according to Shams Charania. The keyword in this sentence is guaranteed.

Not all second round draft picks receive guaranteed contracts. The Clippers bought Boston for two years and have an option for a third season.

The Clippers have been high in Boston since his time as contenders to nearby Sierra Canyon High School. They bought the 51st overall pick from the Pelicans to crack the former top 5 high school recruits.

Boston didn’t immediately live up to the hype at the University of Kentucky. In his only season at Lexington, he averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 40.5% off the field. His stock slipped during a pandemic-ridden season, but the Clippers believe there is still a lot of untapped potential in the former child prodigy.

Boston will make its Los Angeles Clippers debut in the NBA Summer League tonight. He’ll be playing reigning World Champion Milwaukee Bucks with former Louisville Trinity star Jay Scrubb at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
