Courtman accidentally fires a gun in Van Nuys Court
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s official confirmed today that he could accidentally fire a gun and injure his colleagues in a packed Van Nuys court. The August 16 shooting was first reported on Saturday by Court Watch LA, a voluntary court surveillance organization that aims to improve the transparency of the court system.
The organization reported that the court official “accidentally fired a gun while many were in court”. “The bullet ricocheted off the wall, hit another … lieutenant and hit the hip radio,” Courtwatch LA said in a statement. “The aide was reportedly injured by shrapnel from the radio.” A sheriff spokesman confirmed that the Los Angeles Times was actively investigating an “accidental breakout,” but more details. No information provided and could not confirm whether anyone was injured.
