Bacteria Warning Underway In Santa Monica, Other LA Beaches

SANTA MONICA, CA — An ocean water use warning is underway at several Los Angeles County beaches due to elevated bacteria levels, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced Wednesday night.

The agency issued the ocean water use warning for the following beaches:

  • Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica
  • Mother’s Beach at Marina Del Rey
  • Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu
  • Castlerock Storm Drain at Topanga Canyon Beach

Residents are urged to use caution and avoid swimming, surfing and playing in ocean waters at these locations.

“These warnings have been issued due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards when last tested,” officials said.

A warning was lifted Wednesday night for Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro after recent sample results identified water quality levels are within State standards:
