Attempt to identify alleged homicides

Santa Monica, Ca. – At around 3:00 a.m. on September 22, 2021, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) were moved to Ocean Ave. and Pacific St. sent to investigate a shootout.

Officers met with the victim, who told them he was sleeping in his vehicle when two male suspects armed with a pistol and taser opened his door and asked for his car key. A verbal argument ensued. Suspect # 2 killed the victim, then suspect # 1 shot the victim in the face. Both suspects fled in the vehicle described on Ocean Park Blvd south of Neilson Way.

Suspicious Vehicle – Older SUV, possibly Sequoia, 4Runner, or Tahoe

Suspect # 1 – Male Hispanic “Latino Accent”, aged approximately 18-25 years; 5’4 “to 5’7” tall; 155 to 170 pounds; light to medium skin tone, humming haircut, “fuzz” on the upper lip; wears a buttoned short sleeve, loose fitting orange / yellow reddish plaid shirt, loose dark trousers / jeans

Firearm Description – 9mm semi-automatic handgun, “medium tone”, approximately 6-inch barrel

Suspect # 2 – Hispanic Male “Latino Accent”, ages approximately 18-25; 5’4 “to 5’6” tall; 145 to 165 pounds, “flabby”; light to medium skin color, brownish haircut, no facial hair, had a “baby face”, wore a jersey top “crossover”, dark or red color with dark letters, dark to medium denim shorts, white tennis shoes.

Taser Description – Black 5 inch taser or stun gun

SMPD is asking the public to help identify and locate both the suspect and the allegedly involved vehicle.
