Aquinas Graduate, Los Angeles Ram Jamir Jones blocks punt on viral game

Jones’ heads-up, hands-up game shot the ball backwards towards Seattle’s own 10-yard line, leaving a narrow window for Dickson to do something with a ball that was very much in the game for everyone. … and do something Dickson did.

The native Australian somehow scooped up the still spinning ball and ran with it before poking the ball again. When Dickson launched the ball a second time, Jones approached and almost made a second block.

So that’s what happened.

The punt itself traveled a good distance, coming around the Rams’ 11-yard line to the tune of a 68-yard punt.

Initially, the speakers threw a penalty flag thinking Dickson might have crossed the scrimmage line with the second punt, which you can’t do. The flag was finally lifted and the boat counted.

The video of the play has been seen by more than a million people on the NFL site alone.

With the game going in Seattle’s direction, victory ultimately went to Jones and the Rams as they won 26-17 to improve to 4-1 that season.

Jones joined the Rams in late September after the team exempted him from Pittsburgh Steelers waivers. In the four games he has appeared in so far this season, he has three solo tackles.

In 2016 he graduated from the University of Aquinas. We got him covered last year how he worked his way into the NFL.

Jones and the Rams will play for the New York Giants on October 17th.
