Pee Herman is getting eclectic.

Following a viral Twitter campaign, Paul Reubens ‘iconic “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” character will have his first radio show on KCRW-FM (89.9) – one of Los Angeles’ public radio stations and a member of National Public Radio.
“I sent them a letter that was (apparently!) Lost and then tagged them on Twitter and THEN they didn’t believe it was me until my biggest, best, and most amazing fans called and called and blocked their phone lines (hee hee )! ” Herman said that on Monday in a press release allegedly written by him and sent to “valued journalists.”
“Thanks a lot to the fans because they’ll get me some donuts and leave me the keys to the studio while they’re on vacation!”
The self-proclaimed aspiring disc jockey and music lover is accompanied by his “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” friends Chairry, Magic Screen, Miss Yvonne and some “super famous” surprise guests as they hear “some of the greatest pieces of music ever recorded”. ”(John Paragon, the actor who played Jambi the Genie on Pee-wee’s Playhouse, died earlier this year.)
The show debuts on November 26th at 6 p.m. Pacific. It’s “for now” a one-off appearance, a KCRW spokesman told The Times, adding that it will be the first time a fictional character has hosted a show for the popular local broadcaster.
“So you’d better get your transistor radio out and listen to my great voice!” The “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” star added.
On Monday he demanded on Twitter that the station’s employees have his favorite donuts – “but NULL Crullers” – ready and wait for him.
KCRW is a not-for-profit service owned by Santa Monica College and known for its music programming, including Morning Becomes Eclectic. It will be broadcast in and around LA, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Mojave, Palm Springs and San Luis Obispo in Berlin, Germany, via the smartphone app developed by KCRW and online.
The Santa Monica-based broadcaster came under fire earlier this year after a former news producer alleged she experienced racist behavior while working there.
