Affordable housing for seniors in the New Magnolia Villas senior housing estate – santamonica.gov

SANTA MONICA, California – EAH Housing will shortly complete construction of a new building at 1445 and 1453 10th Street that will offer 39 one-bedroom apartments for senior citizens in Santa Monica. The project received a $ 11.4 million investment from the City of Santa Monica and will provide affordable housing for a mix of low income levels.

“We are excited that the second affordable senior housing development, opened last year, will soon provide Santa Monicans with vital housing in an environment where they can age locally,” said Andy Agle, Director of Community Services. “We are committed to helping create affordable housing to keep our long-term residents in the communities they love. We encourage all low-income seniors to apply. ”

This new building will have private balconies for each apartment, over 2,000 square feet of courtyard space, a communal garden, programming offices and common room, an on-site laundry facility and in close proximity to medical offices, Santa Monica Pier and Santa Monica State Beach, and the Third Street Promenade.

To be eligible, applicants must be 62 years of age or older and have annual incomes between $ 16,885 and $ 49,680 for a one-person household, $ 16,885 and $ 56,760 for a two-person household, and $ 16,885 and $ 63,840 for a three-person household.

Applicants who live or work in Santa Monica will receive preferential treatment on the waiting list. There is no minimum income for households with a §8 living voucher. Voucher holders must apply through the Below Market Housing program.
