It’s already a busy Christmas season in theaters, with movies like “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “The Matrix Resurrections” in theaters, and some more notable titles are coming this weekend. The drama “A Journal for Jordan” directed by Denzel Washington will be released, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s coming-of-age film “Licorice Pizza” will be released and the Shakespeare adaptation “The Tragedy of Macbeth” will be released comes before it hits theaters AppleTV +. Two well-known films that have already been shown in theaters are now making their debut as a streaming service. Here are the highlights of this week.

1. ‘Liquorice Pizza’
Writer and director Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film is about a high school and child actor (Cooper Hoffman, the son of Anderson’s late longtime collaborator Philip Seymour Hoffman) and a young woman (Alana Haim of the band Haim) who walked the San 1970s Fernando cruising Valley, with a supporting cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn and Tom Waits. “Licorice Pizza” has received strong reviews and awards, including four Golden Globe nominations and the National Board of Review’s Best Picture of the Year nomination, and could finally earn Anderson his first Oscar.

2. “The Tragedy of Macbeth”
Joel Coen, of the Coen Brothers Oscar-winning duo known for films such as “Fargo” and “No Country for Old Men”, directs this latest version of Shakespeare’s play about a Scottish lord (Denzel Washington) who makes himself up makes the way to become king. Urges his wife (Frances McDormand.) Expect two-time Oscar-winning Washington to receive his latest nomination for best actor for his role, with Coen’s script and Bruno Delbonnel’s black and white camera potentially receiving recognition as well.

3. ‘Charm’
This new animated Disney film from Byron Howard and Jared Bush (“Zootopia”) and Charise Castro Smith follows a family who lives in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house that gives them special powers – with the exception of one child (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz), who could still be the last hope if this magic is in danger. With a cast that includes Wilmer Valderrama, Diane Guerrero and John Leguizamo, and Lin-Manuel Miranda of “Hamilton” has contributed new songs, “Encanto” has been a commercial and critical success since its debut in theaters.

4. “Don’t look up”
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence star in this satire as two astronomers who go on a media tour to warn the world of an asteroid heading for Earth, with a supporting cast that includes Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, and the Boca Raton-born Pop star include Ariana Grande. Like the earlier Dick Cheney biopic “Vice” by writer and director Adam McKay, “Don’t Look Up” polarized critics – musical or comedy.

5. “A diary for Jordan”
Denzel Washington directs this adaptation of the memoirs of former New York Times journalist (and current editor of Simon & Schuster) Dana Canedy on the relationship between Canedy (Chanté Adams) and her fiancé 1st Sergeant Charles Monroe King (Michael B. Jordan) who keeps a diary for her young son while on duty in Iraq. Although Washington’s last directorial work was the Oscar-winning August Wilson adaptation “Fences,” the early reviews for its follow-up film weren’t too positive.
