On Sunday afternoon, the weekend closure of the 101 Freeway is over and all lanes are open again, said Caltrans District 7 on Twitter.

The closure was due to construction on the new Sixth Street Viaduct project east of downtown Los Angeles. The crews removed makeshift frame supports that held bridge arches.
The lanes on the east side of the viaduct construction site in Boyle Heights were closed on the weekend from 10 p.m. on Friday. A 2.5-mile section of the freeway has been closed from interchange 10/101 to interchange 5/10/101 east of downtown Los Angeles.
This was only the first of two weekend closures on the 101 Freeway. The second weekend closure is scheduled from November 4th 10pm to November 6th 3pm.
