10 Freeway SigAlert: Overturned Big Rig Shuts Down 6 Lanes

LOS ANGELES, CA — An overturned big rig shut down most lanes of the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway along with the transition road from the San Gabriel (605) Freeway in the Baldwin Park area Friday.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert as a hazardous materials crew was called in to clean up spilled oil in the roadway Friday morning. According to the CHP, five lanes lane of the eastbound 10 Freeway just east of the 605 Freeway transition remained closed as of noon. Only the carpool and number one lanes were open as of 12:50 pm

The transition road from the northbound 605 Freeway to the eastbound 10 Freeway was also closed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported just before 10:30 am The California Highway Patrol did not give an estimate for when the freeway would reopen. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.

A big rig has overturned on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in the Baldwin Park area, prompting closure of all but the carpool lane of the eastbound 10 Freeway, along with the transition road from the northbound 605 Freeway to the eastbound 10 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.
