๐Ÿ“ฐ Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1) Keep an eye on your toddlers! on friday, a coyote attacked a two-year-old in Woodland Hills. It latched on to the child’s leg and tried to drag her away. โ€œWe had to go to the ER. We had to get her rabies shots. The coyote just kind of dragged her, so her face is also a little bit bruised,โ€ the mother explained. The attack happened in the early afternoon. You may remember that coyote attacks on children are happening more often. A toddler was attacked in Fountain Valley and another one in Huntington Beach. (KTLA, NBC)

2) on thursday, the LA Metro board changed its fee structure to a pay-as-you-go model. Scheduled to begin in summer, โ€œthe base fare for riding on an LA Metro bus or train is $1.75.โ€ There will be no quarter increase. โ€œOne-way, two-hour free transfers between Metro light-rail, subways, bus rapid transit lines and buses will be preserved.โ€ Similarly, the discounted fares for older adults and disabled riders remain in place. And, each time a card reader acknowledges your TAP card, it totals the money you spent. You get โ€œrides free after reaching the cap of $5 a day or $18 a week.โ€ (Press Telegram)

3) In related news, Metro celebrated its light rail groundbreaking on Friday on Van Nuys Boulevard. The first phase of this project โ€œwill be a 6.7-mile ~$2 billion light rail line, with 11 new stationsโ€ that go down Van Nuys to San Fernando Road. Once in place, the second phase runs “north along the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line, connecting to it at the Sylmar/San Fernando station.” A tentative opening date is somewhere between 2028 and 2030. (LA Streetsblog)

4) Take the kids (and pets!) to see Santa! The places where you can snap a photo with the big elf include Santa’s Workshop at The Grove, the Pacific Palisades Simon Meadow Christmas Tree lot, and The Promenade at Westlake. Check in with each venue to make sure Santa is there on the day you intend to visit! (patch)

5) The Barlow Respiratory Hospital Main Campus at 2000 Stadium Way is hosting a nursing hiring day on December 7. Running from 8 am to 3 pm, the employer welcomes new degrees! โ€œNew grad nurses are surrounded by a team of exceptional healthcare professionals and enjoy benefits that include Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off, Tuition Reimbursement, and nursing bonus of up to $10,000.โ€ (The Eastsider LA)
